Routine women’s health screenings and exams can help you avoid serious medical problems. Schedule a wellness exam annually or more often if Dr. Malhotra recommends it.
What should I expect during women’s health exams?
When you arrive at Central Clinic for a women’s health exam, the caring team greets you and checks your blood pressure, pulse, other vital signs, and body weight. Dr. Malhotra reviews your medical history and asks questions about past diagnoses, any symptoms you have, and any medications you take.
During the physical examination portion of a women’s health checkup, Dr. Malhotra examines your eyes, ears, throat, abdomen, and breathing. She might complete a breast exam to screen for signs of breast cancer and a gynecological examination, including a Pap test if necessary, to detect or rule out cervical cancer and other women’s health problems.
During a Pap test, Dr. Malhotra inserts a speculum into your vagina to obtain a sample of cervical cells for a lab to review. She might recommend you complete a blood test, urine screening, tissue swab or biopsy, bone density screening, ultrasound, mammogram, or other diagnostic tests as needed.
Will I need treatment?
If you’re healthy and don’t have any medical concerns, no treatment is needed after a women’s health exam at Central Clinic.
However, if you experience an abnormal Pap smear or have high blood pressure, thyroid problems, hormone imbalance, or a lump in your breast, Dr. Malhotra might recommend additional diagnostic testing or treatment to prevent serious complications.
Your treatment might include:
- Diet, exercise, or other lifestyle changes
- Medical weight loss
- Medications
- Hormone replacement therapy
- Gynecological procedures
- Specialist referrals
Central Clinic also offers birth control and vaccinations to help you prevent pregnancy or certain communicable diseases. Dr. Malhotra can refer you to an OB/GYN specialist for complex women’s health problems.
Don’t neglect your health and let a simple medical issue turn into a serious problem. Schedule your next women’s health exam with Central Clinic by phone or online today.
